ROLE OBJECTIVE:
We are seeking an experienced and well-rounded Marketing Director with outstanding experience across the marketing mix to deliver strategic solutions for a broad spectrum of market-leading clients and events.
The ideal candidate for this role should possess a high work ethic, excellent communication skills, strategic thinking abilities, strong organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. They should be used to managing high-profile clients and a team of internal specialists and external suppliers to deliver against bold objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Leadership
- Oversee a division of more than 40 people across five departments, maintaining and improving personnel review processes, as well as ongoing personal development opportunities for members of each department
- Take responsibility for the division’s delivery on behalf of P54 clients and in the promotion of its own brand
- Take direct line management of a senior team of marketing professionals, ensuring each is adequately guided and supported to perform at a high level
- Monitor and provide feedback on team dynamics
Strategy
- Develop and ensure the delivery of impactful marketing strategies on behalf of a range of clients, including governing bodies, brands, events, and destinations, with a particular focus on golf and events
- Develop campaign strategies and timelines, considering target audiences and identifying appropriate tactics and channels to engage and convert
- Work with the creative department to develop new brands and sub-brands in the delivery of marketing campaigns
- Work with senior departmental figures ‘Strategy’, ‘Creative’, ‘Earned Media’, ‘Advertising’ and ‘Social & Content’ to improve processes and efficiencies and ensure strong cross-departmental working in pursuit of shared goals and the delivery of shared projects.
Quality assurance
- The Marketing Director is responsible for quality control and is the last line of defence for the most important work leaving the division
Budgeting and Procurement
- Own and manage the budget for Marketing, including payroll, team development, staff rewards and investments into new technologies to enhance the performance of the Marketing division
- Oversee the procurement and management of external agencies, particularly for event marketing projects
Recruitment
- Oversee all recruitment with the HR Director, including succession planning
Divisional Representation
- Be the main individual responsible for representing the Marketing division internally and externally
- Be an authoritative figure prepared to support team members as required on conference calls and face-to-face meetings
Reporting
- Oversee client and internal reporting, including regular board reports
- Ensure effective reporting practices are maintained across the Marketing division, allowing clients to understand the return on their investments with Performance54
Research and Insights
- Guide the Marketing division and the wider business towards insightful research and insights and implement these findings as appropriate to shape the future of the division
Cross-departmental comms
- Maintain protocols for liaising regularly with all other departments to ensure alignment
Additional requirements:
- Experience working across the marketing mix and delivering strategic solutions utilising a range of modern marketing tactics and practices, including earned and paid media, content generation, social media, brand development and management, campaign development, and digital marketing
- Experience in developing cross-channel campaigns for consumer facing brands and/or sports events and track record in impacting company sales
- Experience in leading high-performing teams working across an international landscape
- Knowledge of current trends relating to sports marketing and the golf industry
- Knowledge of golf, sport, lifestyle and news media landscapes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organisational skills and multi-tasking
- A strong network in the global golf/sports industry
Educational Requirements:
- Degree level from accredited college or university – preferably in Business, Sports Management or Marketing related subjects
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of marketing experience
- At least 2 years’ experience as a head of marketing or marketing director

- Commensurate with experience
