ABOUT GOLF SAUDI
Golf Saudi, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Saudi Golf Federation, recently unveiled what is arguably the most ambitious and pioneering strategy in the game’s recent development history.
Leveraging its six strategic pillars, Golf Saudi’s focus will be to create the fastest growing golf market in the world, inspiring Saudi nationals to fall in love with the game, whilst building and promoting world class facilities.
Golf Saudi is embarking on a comprehensive marketing and events strategy partnering with the largest stakeholders in the game, including bringing major global golf events to the Kingdom through the Ladies European Tour, Asian Tour, and other major rightsholders.
Equally, with a significant number of contemporary and traditional golf facilities being developed throughout Saudi Arabia in-line with Vision 2030 the role will require a range of marketing practices to drive interest amongst a wide demographic.
THE ROLE
The Marketing Director will oversee all marketing deliverables for Golf Saudi, including being responsible for overseeing strategy development and implementation, such as quality control, department resource requirements, staff development, and key external stakeholder and internal relations. The Marketing Director will support the Leadership Team and and work closely with the finance department (incl. the Chief Financial Officer) to manage marketing budgets and meet departmental KPI targets.
The role requires passion for the game of golf, and an understanding and experience of the sports industry, developing cross-channel marketing campaigns, including brand development, sponsorship activation, content generation, social media management and PR & Communications is required. The Marketing Director should also have a talent for developing creative ideas and be comfortable working on multiple projects, often with tight deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Brand and campaign development
- Work with the creative department, in particular the senior manager, and to develop the look and feel of new campaigns
- Develop the campaign route, ensuring consideration of target audiences, identifying appropriate tactics and channels to engage (and where necessary ‘convert’)
- Co-ordinate a team to ensure that key workstreams are activated and delivered in keeping with pre-agreed timelines.
- Client delivery
- The Marketing Director is ultimately the last line of defence for any work leaving the department
- The Marketing Director can delegate responsibility but is ultimately responsible for quality control
- As the strategic lead, the Marketing Director is ultimately responsible for the delivery of our services and meeting departmental KPIs
- Delegation will be required but the Marketing Director should have regular dialogue with senior managers
- Partner and stakeholder management
- Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure maximum leverage of external channels and ensure objectives are being considered throughout
- Work with and across internal departments to generate shared benefits through the delivery of campaigns, in particular advertising/media buying
- Personnel Co-ordination
- Delegate responsibility where appropriate but oversee team delivery
- Ensure line managers are creating development opportunities for their line reports
- Ensure all senior members of the department are being utilised appropriately i.e. given sufficient responsibilities / growth / positioning
- Ensure all annual appraisals are conducted and reported, individual KPI’s are appropriate, and promotions and bonuses are reflective of ability, quality of work, experience, and volumes
- Stakeholder Relations
- Oversee work in progress (WIP) documents and oversee delivery of regular reports
- Or delegating responsibility to senior members of the department (at Marketing Director discretion)
- Provide insightful industry research and information, and keep the business and stakeholders abreast of updates that may be of interest
- Monitor and provide feedback, when necessary, on team dynamics
- Oversee the procurement and management of external agencies
- Be personable and efficient at providing regular updates, including hosting and being an authoritative figure during regular conference calls and face-to-face meetings
- Build trust and support amongst key business leaders and industry stakeholders
- Team Development and Leadership
- Be an excellent communicator and team leader
- Work closely with HR to develop talent and motivate staff
- Liaise regularly with all other business departments to ensure alignment
- Budget Management
- Manage and oversee department budgets, reporting on status regularly

Additional requirements:
- Knowledge of current trends relating to sports marketing
- Knowledge of the sport, lifestyle and news media landscapes in KSA
- Experience working across the marketing mix and delivering strategic solutions utilising a range of modern marketing tactics and practices
- Experience in developing cross-channel campaigns for consumer facing brands or events
- Ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks
- Administrative and IT skills, and an ability to maintain records and produce reports
- Build a strong network within the KSA and global golf/sports industry
- Be an excellent up-and-down manager
Educational Requirements:
- Degree level from accredited college or University – preferably in Business, Sports or Marketing
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of marketing experience
- Middle East work experience preferred
- Problem solver
- Ability to work flexible hours
This job will require the successful candidate to live in Saudi Arabia.
